It's no shock that 3B Alex Rodriguez, RF Nick Markakis, SS Jose Reyes, C Brian McCann, CF/RF Josh Hamilton, SP Jake Peavy, RP Francisco Rodriguez and RP Mariano Rivera have all been hot commodities through free agency thus far. Each of those eight players has received an offer of more than $10 and most have been offered multi-year deals at some point. It's becoming apparent that these players are indeed the class of the 2009-2010 Free Agent Pool.
However, managers have been kicking the tires on many other players as well, and their markets will likely develop slower as managers focus on the big names on the board first.
Some managers have been quick to offer contracts to Free Agents who played for their team last season. WinOrLoseHitTheBooze made a quick claims to 1B Adam LaRoche and SS Christian Guzman. The Homestead Grays shipped out offers to castoffs LF Delmon Young, C Jeff Clement, C Jarrod Saltalamacchia and SP Francisco Liriano. The Black Sox hope to bring back big-time 2009 bust 2B/SS Mike Aviles, as well as SP Fausto Carmona and SP Kyle Lohse.
