Homestead Grays Re-Sign Delmon Young, Travis Snider

The Homestead Grays have announced the first two of several expected re-signings today, by announcing the decision to re-sign LF Delmon Young to a 2 year contract @ $2 and LF/RF Travis Snider to a 4 year contract @ $6.

LF/RF Travis Snider, @ $7 (4) 7 + 4 = 11 / 2 = 5.5 --> $6
LF Delmon Young, @ $1 (3) 1 + 3 = 4 / 2 = $2

Young and Snider are among a list of players the Grays need to make decisions on, ahead of the league's September 1st Restricted Free Agent Deadline.

C Mike Napoli, 1B James Loney, LF Manny Ramirez, CF/RF Josh Hamilton, and RF Corey Hart all need to be re-signed before September 1st, in order to prevent giving other teams an opportunity to make bids to the restricted free agents.

Any player who's contract is expiring at the end of this season must be re-signed prior to September 1st, 2010. Failure to do so, allows the player to be exposed as a restricted free agent for a period of ten days (September 1st - September 10th). During this period, other teams may make bids to the restricted free agent. Dollar bids must use the averaged future cost of the free agent (always in green) as the low point. IE if the manager has the option to re-sign a player for $15, teams must make their bids for AT LEAST $15. After the Restricted Free Agent Period ends (September 11th 12:00 AM), managers will have ten days to decide whether or not to match offers for their restricted free agents. If they wish to match, they must do so before September 20th @ 12:01 AM.

Keeper signings are due by October 4th @ 12:01 AM.

Player Cut: Maicer Izturis - Homestead Grays

The Homestead Grays have released 2B/3B/SS Maicer Izturis ($1). Izturis had 1 year left on the 2 year contract he signed with the Grays after the 2009 season. Therefore his $1 salary will still count towards the Homestead Grays 2010 Keeper Payroll. (July 29th, 2010)

2010 Season Recap @ the All-Star Break

It's been quite the first half of the season for ThaGreenMonster Dynasty League. We've seen three or four teams fighting it out for the top spot in the standings. While a few teams have certainly fallen behind, there's still plenty of time to turn things around and make a push for the playoffs.

Here's a look at the first half standings:

If the playoffs started today, the Homestead Grays and the Starcity Arms would receive first round byes.

First-Round Playoff Matchups would look as follows:

(3) S.S. Express vs. (6) The Screwballs
(4) YBombers vs. (5) The Degenerates

However, a lot can change in the second half! Let's take a closer look at some of the stats to see how the teams got to this point so far:

It's no coincidence that when you sort the teams by the order of Total Games Played, they are ranked similarly to the Total Standings. Bottom feeders, the Master Batters and the Black Sox are well behind the pace of other teams.
This pace affects all the counting stats, and it's no surprise that the Black Sox are so far behind. With more than 100 less games played than our league leader, and close to 50 games less than the team in 9th (Master Batters), the Black Sox clearly need to do a better job of setting their lineup. Not surprisingly, either the Black Sox or the Master Batters are dead last in 6 out of 8 scoring categories.
On the pitching side of things..

.. the S.S. Express are again out in front, leading the league in Innings Pitched. Remember that there is an IP limit of 1500 for the regular season. A slightly shocking outlier here is the fact that The Degenerates are last in the league in Innings Pitched but are currently sitting in 5th place in the Total Standings.
In terms on Win/Loss records, the Homestead Grays (79-40), the Starcity Arms (71-48), WinOrLoseHitTheBooze (83-53) and The Degenerates (69-43) are leading the way. Despite leading the league in Innings Pitched, the S.S. Express are a very mediocre 70-74 at this point.
The YBombers have plenty more saves than anyone else in the league with 108 to date. S.S. Express is 2nd with 82 saves. YET, the S.S. Express have 6 more Blown Saves than the YBombers.
The Starcity Arms lead the league with a whopping 17 CG's and 8 SO's. They can thank Roy Halladay and Felix Hernandez for the majority of those.
Now let's break down the ERA's and WHIP's. Click here for the table with the math.
ERA Leaders: Homestead Grays (3.05), Starcity Arms (3.17), and The Degenerates (3.46)
ERA Losers: Black Sox (4.48), Master Batters (4.28), S.S. Express (4.12) and WinOrLoseHitTheBooze (4.12)
WHIP Leaders: The Degenerates (1.19), Homestead Grays (1.20), and Starcity Arms (1.22)
WHIP Losers: Black Sox (1.40), Master Batters (1.37), and 4 teams tied (1.32).
