Homestead Grays Re-Sign 1B Albert Pujols

Despite having his contract negotiations stall with the St. Louis Cardinals, Albert Pujols has indeed signed a new contract.

Pujols was acquired by the Homestead Grays this offseason, having been traded from the Master Batters on January 27th along with a second round draft pick for LHP C.C. Sabathia ($26) and OF Matt Kemp ($26).

The Homestead Grays had until the end of the season to re-sign the slugger, but decided to forgo that option, instead inking him to a one year contract extension worth $43 just before the start of Spring Training.

His expiring contract was worth $41 a season, and his 2011 MLB.com value was $44. Averaging those two values determined the cost of Pujols' new contract.
(41+44 = 85 / 2 = 42.5 --> $43)
